One-Day Private Trip to One of the Most Beautiful Gardens in the World - Château de Vullierens

Ever wondered what it feels like to be in one of the most beautiful gardens on the planet? Is it like a fairytale? Is it magical or breathtaking? The answer to both of these questions is yes! You can find this once in a lifetime experience in Switzerland - in Château de Vullierens, the historical house and the magnificent gardens.

Dating back to the 13th century, Château de Vullierens offers a spectacular view of the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva. Surprisingly, this magical location has belonged to the same family for 700 years.

Château de Vullierens is home to 30 hectares of gardens and is covered with about 50.000 irises. From May to mid-June, the garden offers about 400 varieties of beautiful flowers, including lilies, tulips, roses, peonies, rhododendrons, and many more amazing flowers offering an array of beautiful colours.

Although the palace is not open to the public, the Château de Vullierens Gardens are an ideal place for an excursion around nature. This experience includes walking through the flower gardens and ancient trees, with local wine tasting, delicious food, art, and around 80 sculptures to help you connect with nature and let your artistic flair flow. Amazing, right?

The history of the house is really interesting. The first house was built on the hill of Vullierens by Pierre de Duin in 1308. Only two towers remain from the original Savoyard Square building.

The current Château de Vullierens castle was built in around 1706 by Gabriel-Henri de Mestral. The building served as a country residence with many outbuildings. The estate stayed in the Mestral family until Georgina de Mestral passed it on to her husband, Samuel Bovet at the end of the 19th century. The gardens of the castle were created by Doreen Bovet, during the 20th century. Nowadays, the property belongs to the Bovet family. For its beauty and historical significance, the whole building with its outbuildings is listed as Swiss cultural property of national importance.

Besides the historical castle and the surrounding gardens full of flowers, Château de Vullierens also offers everyone a visit to a vineyard. Here, many types of grapes are grown, including Gamay, Chasselas, Pinot Noir, Gamaret, etc. The historic vineyards take over more than 7 hectares. Here you can taste the fine Swiss wine from the historical lands of Switzerland, grown right there in front of you.
