Basel Fasnacht Carnival
The Monday following Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of three days of spectacular celebrations with the Basel Fasnacht Carnival.
Known by locals as the "drey scheenschte Dääg" (three most beautiful days), this festival provides locals and tourists with an experience they won't forget. The festival is attended by over 20,000 people, who light up the streets with colorful carnival lanterns and music. It is essential to experience the carnival if you wish to comprehend Basel.
