Interlaken

Interlaken is proudly nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps and is considered one of the most popular destinations in Switzerland. This heavenly place lies between Thun and Brienz lakes, hence the name of the city.

The town of Interlaken makes a perfect home base for exploring the beautiful mountains all around the central region of Switzerland.

The magnificent city is rich with tourist attractions and offers a lot of sightseeing. The town itself is relatively flat, and from here, you can wander through the shopping areas up into the residential zones.

Interlaken’s top travel destination is the Jungfrau Region, which is located between the world-renowned Mountains Moench and Jungfrau. When you are on the top of the mountain, at an altitude of 3454m, the view will take your breath away.

In order to get there, you should take the highest train station, which was built right inside the mountains, so that the trains can run throughout the year regardless of the weather conditions.

The city reveals its charm, especially from April to May, when nature starts blossoming and you can admire the fascinating view of the gorgeous mountains.

You can also take a walk along the bank of the Aare River on a warm summer’s day with the marvellous view of the surrounding soaring peaks of the Swiss Alps. You could also take a serene boat trip or a paddle steamer on Lake Thun - the Interlaken’s west side, and Lake Brienz – the Interlaken’s east side through each part of the town.

There is also an option of visiting the Museum of Tourism (Touristik Museum), existing since 1980, which is also on the list of must-see places in Interlaken. The three-floor exhibition is located in the Unterseen Old Town and represents the history of Alpine tourism in the whole Jungfrau Region.
