Grape Harvest Festival

Event Description

In the Neuchâtel region, the start of the grape harvest is celebrated annually on the final weekend of September. The city center is blocked to traffic for this three-day festival, giving guests a unique experience. The Guggenmusik has a large night procession on Friday, but there are costumed ensembles throughout the festival. Typically, the children's parade happens on Saturday afternoon.

A flower procession is held on Sunday afternoon, drawing a sizable crowd. Brass bands and comedic ensembles in costume accompany this procession, which carries on the tradition of the harvest float parade, which used to transport winegrowers' tools after the harvest.
